Welcome to Bruce Tronell MotorSport for Life!

Bruce Tronell MotorSport for Life Trust is a trust established by Bruce to raise funds to be used on behalf of Special Needs Children. These funds will be used to transport celebrities to visit special needs children and to take individual children on day trips to special events.

Every kid has a dream – being a fireman, riding on the fire engine, being a policeman or riding in the police car but most of all every young person wants to be a racing car driver and race a fast car. MotorSport for Life makes the most of this dream for the purpose of treating terminally ill children and giving them the opportunity to fulfil a dream.
The second opportunity is that with these high profile teams and drivers that are associated with Australasian V8 motor car racing, many opportunities present themselves to raise funds for the Child Cancer Foundation.

Bruce Tronell is a cancer survivor who has fought a vigorous battle to beat his cancer. Bruce has been raising funds for Special Needs Children since 1985. Since being diagnosed Bruce has made physical fitness his ambition. To this end he has done 6 half marathons, 2 bridge to bridges, 6 twenty four hour relays for life, the Rotorua Marathon, 5 Te Awamutu marathons and 6 Huntly half-marathons, Along with having won age group gold, silver and bronze medals at the South Pacific Masters Games. Bruce’s commitment to beating this disease has inspired him to raise more and do more for special needs children in our hospitals.

Dave Rodger is a well known New Zealand sporting personality who has been raising funds and awareness for children living with cancer with Bruce since 1985. Dave has won World Championship 2 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze and Olympic bronze medals for New Zealand rowing. Dave and his wife are also the first husband and wife team in New Zealand to win at the World Championships.

A key fundraising activity is the 168km walk around Lake Taupo (which was done in 25 hours). Jonno Lester is a Porsche GT3 Carrera Cup driver who at 17 is the youngest driver in the Porsche competition. His decision to walk around Lake Taupo for the Bruce Tronell MotorSport for Life Trust has encouraged the young guns of New Zealand motor racing to join in the fundraising effort.

To date our celebrity walkers include: Andrew Waite and Michael Burdett from Formula Ford, Simon Evans and Ben Dallas from Suzuki karting. Mark Russ, Shane Van Gisbergen and Earl Bamber from the Toyota Racing Series.

The Motorsport for Life team are walking a full marathon (42kms) to fundraise for Arthritis New Zealand.
